Maria Breaux wrote a bunch of plays before deciding to spend a lot of time, money, and sanity on digital filmmaking. Raised by Drag Queens is her second film, after premiering her feature, I'd Rather Be...Gone, at the 25th San Francisco International Lesbian and Gay Film Festival. She currently makes her living as a technical writer at a biotechnology company, but has had solo performances, staged readings, and plays at such San Francisco locations as San Francisco State University, Stanford University, Build, Victoria Theatre, Climate Theatre, Brava! for Women in the Arts, New Conservatory Theatre, and Josie's Cabaret and Juice Joint. She was co-founder of the now-defunct sketch comedy group Baby Snatching Dingoes, and was the winner of the 1996 and 2002 Highsmith Playwriting Awards.
